Maintenance Engineer

Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire (commutable from Sheffield, M1 access)

Salary: £55,000 – £58,000 per year (inc. shift allowance) + monthly bonus

Schedule: Rotating shift (AM / PM / Nights)

Lodestone Recruitment is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a world-renowned manufacturer in Rotherham. This is a permanent role on a modern, purpose-built site with major expansion planned in next few years and clear progression for the right maintenance engineer.

You'll be a time-served (or apprentice-trained) engineer from a mid-to-heavy industrial background — steel, castings, foundry, forgings, aerospace or similar.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault-finding and breakdown repairs across mechanical plant
• Diagnosing and repairing hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating machinery, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and drive systems
• Maximising uptime on critical equipment, including heat treatment, VAR, ISM and air melt induction furnaces
• Root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventative actions
• Supporting installation, commissioning and upgrades
• Logging work on the site's CMMS and ensuring full health & safety compliance

Requirements

• Proven mechanical maintenance experience in engineering or manufacturing
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Able to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Time-served / apprentice-trained or equivalent
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift and overtime

Hours of work (weekly rotation)

• AM: Mon–Thu 6am–2pm, Fri 1pm–10pm
• PM: Mon–Thu 2pm–10pm, Fri 1pm–9pm
• Nights: Sun–Thu 10pm–6am

Training starts on a days / AM–PM rotation, paid £51,750–£54,300 for the initial period (excluding night premium).
