Quality Engineer Opportunity


Lodestone Recruitment is currently working with a well-established company based in Bradford, who is currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team.


Role Overview:

This is a hands on role leading team undertaking quality inspection to ensure the conformity of various parts through their manufacturing process. You'll be taking a lead role in programming CMM and reporting to the Product Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the inspection team, coordinating batch inspection, first off inspection and stage inspection /data collection priorities.
  • Lead programming of CMM and GMM measuring equipment. (Wenzel Revo training will be given)
  • Evaluate inspection results, escalate issues to the Product Quality Manager where required.
  • Incoming goods, first off, intermediate and final inspection of gears, shafts and gearbox components in order to identify, and isolate, any non-conforming material or parts.
  • Support the Product Quality Manager duties, be comfortable communicating with Customers, have the ability and desire to progress along a Product Quality career path.
  • Use of micrometers, air gauges, bowers micrometers, height gauges, plug guages, etc to measure dimensions and form
  • Use of chemical etching process to identify grinding burn, use of MPI (to level II)and ultrasonic equipment to identify cracking. Surface finish checking, visual inspection, roll testing, and various other processes to evaluate the quality attributes of a precison ground gear.
  • Communicate inspection information with production operators to assist in set-up or operation of machines.
  • Creation of inspection documentation, parts labelling and records. This includes some PC work involving spreadsheets and databases.



Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience of CMM operation and programming.
  • Ability to use inspection equipment and interpret inspection data (GMM data in the case of gear grinding)
  • Undersatnd FAIR, PPAP, APQP, NCR, SPC etc
  • Good abliity to understand engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing



Pay & Shift Details:


  • 39 Hour Working Week
  • Monday - Thursday 07:00 to 16:00, Friday 07:00 to 12:00
  • £18.34 - £19.43 per Hour (DOE)
  • Overtime available T1/2
